HEATHCOTE
From Strength to Strength

Heathcote is for members aged 18-35. The sub-committee organises ticketed and informal social events throughout the year for young members and their guests. We’ve gone from strength to strength this quarter, with the sold-out Wine Tasting and Pub Quiz events featuring alongside the regular informal drinks’ evenings.
We’ve been pleased to see lots of new faces alongside familiar Heathcote regulars, and encourage younger members to join us at the next informal drinks on Wednesday 5 June in the Drawing Room; there are free drinks on offer and you’re welcome to bring a friend – no booking required.
The very successful Interclub Garden Party took place on 16 May and the next ticketed event for your diaries is the Tennis and Pimm’s evening on Friday 14 June. So book your tickets via the Club website before they sell out.
We’re excited to bring you more events aimed exclusively at younger members throughout the year, so make sure you’re signed up to the Heathcote mailing list via the Club website’s email preferences. Also look out for upcoming events posters outside the Gym or Polo Bar. There is now an invite-only Heathcote WhatsApp group. Invitation QR codes are available at all our events. We hope to see you soon!

YOUNG HURLINGHAM

So much more than the Easter Bunny this spring
Young Hurlingham has been a hive of activity since the last issue of the magazine.
Throughout the Easter holidays, our younger members had an abundance of activity options to choose from, catering for all ages and interests. Old favourites such as the Easter Egg Hunt, Science Day, Performing Peachicks, crash swimming courses and tennis camps were supplemented with cricket, golf, squash, and strength and conditioning gym sessions. One particular highlight was the launch of our new multi-sports camp, when parents were offered a full-day camp option that makes the most of Hurlingham. Incredible Alfie guided the children from racquet sport coaches in the morning to a playground picnic, followed by afternoon sports spanning the Club, before ending with a swim.
This year children again seized the opportunity to enter the annual Art Exhibition to showcase their incredible talents. The judges had a tough time selecting the winners.
Families remain active participants across sports and fitness. New parents were keen to try the Carifit taster session, allowing them to exercise without worrying about childcare. Our junior cricket community is thriving, with enthusiastic participation in fixtures and coaching. Several Young Hurlingham members enjoyed the coaching and tournament at the padel season opener, while others have been playing their way to Wimbledon in tennis. Finally, in a bid to reclaim the cup for the Long Gallery, our junior swimmers journeyed to the now bi-annual gala with Roehampton.

At half-term, we continued offering multiple regular sports camps together with the multi-sport option, the forest school for Peachicks and the Sharky & George activity days. The cycling club’s future was secured through the introduction of our first cycling classes.
Additional facilities that have been developed for children this quarter include the brilliant games room in the old squash court 1. Children aged 12 to 16 can now complete their gym induction to access the Gym with an accompanying adult (please remember to sign in for each visit). Playground additions include a new roundabout and toys in the play zone and there are new floats in the Indoor Pool. Also linked to the pools, please read the updated swimming regulations for junior swimmers that align with national guidelines. Supervising adults must be in the pool with under-8s and the adult:child swimming ratios have been clarified (now typically 1:2).
Summer promises more fabulous opportunities. The Terrific Tree Trail booklets are available from Reception for a self-guided adventure around the Club. Don’t miss the junior cricket morning before the cricket BBQ in June, or the return of the Junior and Mini Tennis Championships, Camp Out and Family Picnic in July.
To receive updates on camps, classes, and facilities for our younger members and families, please join the relevant WhatsApp groups using the QR codes on the Young Hurlingham noticeboard posters.
