The French magazine Paris Match has celebrated its 75th year by producing an eight-page fantasy feature, choosing our beloved Royal Family as its subject matter, and making predictions about the Royals in 30 years’ time. One example is that Princess Charlotte will have married Gaston d’Orleans (now aged 5), descendent of the Bourbon Kings, thus uniting the crowns for the first time in 600 years.
Well, it set me thinking about other aspects of life – in perhaps as little as 20 years’ time.
- Buckingham Palace has become the UK’s most expensive public school, and its Headmaster is none other than Boris Johnson.
- Wilfred Johnson has just moved into Downing Street as PM. His first official visitor is the US President Elon Musk.
- The Hurlingham Club has doubled its membership by taking over and landscaping the Fulham Palace Allotments and building a new Frank Gehry-style Club House designed by AI.
- Sextus Rees-Mogg is Director General of the BBC, where Harper Beckham is their political reporter.
- The Vegan Society has gathered its first harvest of lunar vegetables off the pastures of the Sea of Harmony.
- The Thames, overnight, has turned a bright orange, as a result of polluting algae.
- Club Members revolt over sky-high parking charges for their flying cars in the Four in Hand Yard. Meanwhile two driverless cars go berserk and finish up face down in the Lake.
- His Majesty the King has awarded the Hurlingham Club the Royal Warrant for its production of Royal Jelly.
- Fulham plays Chelsea in the FA Cup Final and wins five-nil.
- The Club negotiates its first reciprocal club in Pyongyang, North Korea.
- Chaos in the Boat Race when Oxford and Cambridge clash oars and both capsize. Further turmoil when the coxes climb back into the wrong blue boats.
And last, but by no means least, Hana Tiller is awarded the CBE for services to journalism. We’ll raise a glass to that one!

Davina Clarke Honoured
Hurlingham member, Davina Clarke, was recently awarded The Coronation Medal for her performance at The Coronation.
She says: ‘What an honour and a privilege it was to perform at Their Majesties’ Coronation. It was the most momentous occasion to be a part of, and such a joy to play a programme of Bach and Bruckner alongside The English Baroque Soloists and Sir John Eliot Gardiner.
‘I am thrilled to have been awarded this Coronation medal which will forever be a reminder of a very special day.’
