RECRUITMENT FOR CHAIR OF THE ESTATES COMMITTEE

As you may have seen in my recent email, we are inviting applications for the role of Chair of the Estates Committee, a key leadership position at the Club.

The Estates Committee plays a vital role in overseeing all activities and projects relating to our beautiful grounds, gardens, heritage assets and interior design. As one of the Club’s six Principal Sub-Committees, Estates reports directly to the Main Committee. The Chair of the Estates Committee will also be co-opted onto Main.

The Chair will:

Lead the Estates Committee, which meets six times a year, with ad hoc meetings as required.

Work closely with the Director of Estates and Heads of Department.

Collaborate with other Principal Sub-Committee Chairs, particularly Finance and Sports.

Help shape priorities for Estates projects, including the Foreshore and Flood Defence works, sustainability plans, the blueprint of the Grounds, and the North-East corner development.

We are seeking members with:

Strong chairing skills and leadership experience.

A background in an estates-related field, such as architecture, construction, project management, landscaping or business operations.

A deep appreciation of the Club’s ethos, and a commitment to preserving and enhancing our Estate for future generations. Members of Sub-Committees typically serve four-year terms, with the option of a further four years, subject to approval. Chairs may serve for up to three years.

RECRUITMENT FOR THE NOMINATIONS COMMITTEE

We are reaching out to members to join the Nominations Committee; we are keen to speak with any of you who have the interest, the credentials and the availability to engage in this important work for your Club.

The Nominations Committee (NomCom) is accountable to the Trustees and reports from time to time to the Main Committee. NomCom exists primarily to support the Chair, the Trustees and all the PSC and Committee Chairs to identify new members to improve the breadth and depth of committee skills, to meet their goals and to ensure their smooth succession.

Our work requires close collaboration with each of the Committee Chairs and the key Directors, and we are well-supported in this by the Governance Officer and the Office of the Chief Executive.

The Committee holds four official meetings each year, with ad hoc meetings in between according to client/member interest.

Experience of making and/or advising on senior appointments, together with a strong understanding and appreciation of the ethos of the Club, are both highly desirable qualities of members wishing to join the Committee.

Interested members should submit a biography or CV to melanie.duhig@hurlinghamclub.org.uk and be available for interview during June. We encourage all those with the relevant skills and the passion for the Club’s future to apply.
