FOOD & BEVERAGE
not long now ...
... until the July opening of Brasserie 1869
As I write this at the end of April for a magazine that will be out in early June, it is hard to judge what is new news and what you already know. Thank you for your enthusiasm for Club events – the Fête Champêtre sold out in two minutes!
Plans for Brasserie 1869 have been progressing very well, with the East Wing being handed back to us from the contractors on 14 April. Since then, the team has been fitting out the space, recruiting and training the new recruits. Our Executive Chef, Chris Wheeler, has been busy working across all food outlets to increase quality and consistency. His four Saturday nights in the Rose Court were sold out and gave an exciting flavour of what is to come. The positive feedback has been very much appreciated. Pedro Azevedo, the new General Manager for Brasserie 1869, started work at the Club at the beginning of April, and has been getting to know you, the members.
Bookings for Brasserie 1869 have been open since 6 May, and I know many of you will all have been making reservations. You will also have seen the launch menu and pricing. I hope that this has now laid to rest the rumours about what the Brasserie will be and what food will be served. It was never planned to be, nor will it be, a high-end restaurant, but more a great Club restaurant with brasserie-style catering for the broad range of members and their needs, whether this be a single course after a game of tennis, a family gathering, or something a bit more special, with accompanying wines.
Brasserie 1869 also has a private dining area that can cater for twenty people, so do contact the F&B team if you would like to book. In addition to this, the fully revamped events space will be coming back online, so you can contact the Club’s Events team: events@hurlinghamclub.org.uk, As we welcome the summer months, the Dip furniture has been out since 3 May, the BBQ is running flat out and the outside bar on the Polo Bar Terrace is up and running. So, make the most of your amazing Club on these long summer evenings.
